About
Hey there — I’m James Erickson, a full-stack developer and problem solver studying Information Systems at Brigham Young University. I love building tools that make life simpler, smarter, and more connected. Whether it’s developing a budgeting app that helps people take control of their finances, creating an AI-powered tutoring platform, or designing clean, intuitive websites, I’m driven by the mix of logic, creativity, and real impact that coding makes possible.
I’ve worked across React, .NET, SQL, and cloud tools like AWS, Azure, Vercel, and Render. I enjoy taking projects from concept to polished product — both individually and on collaborative teams. I’m especially passionate about combining technology and purpose — building solutions that not only work well but also do good in the world.
Currently, I’m working on projects that blend technology, leadership, and impact:
- MTC Spanish Supervisor — Lead a team of teachers and develop automations that streamline scheduling, attendance, and communication.
 - Record Linking Lab — Build React and .NET web applications that support family history research with Professor Price.
 - Engage Now Africa — Contribute to literacy and teacher training initiatives in Sierra Leone and Ghana.
 - Notion Campus Leader — Charged to spread Notion’s mission on BYU campus: “to make toolmaking ubiquitous, allowing everyone to customize the software they use every day to their exact needs.”

Outside of code, I’m a husband, tennis player, cyclist, and teacher. I love exploring the outdoors around Provo, mentoring others, and spending time with family. My goal — in both career and life — is to create things that last, empower others, and reflect the values I live by: faith, integrity, and continual improvement.
